Who was Saint Theresa of Avila?
She was a Spanish religious mystic who lived during the 16th century, founder of the order of the Discalsed (barefoot) Carmelites. She wrote extensively on her mystical visions and ecstatic spiritual experiences. She is also known as Saint Theresa of Jesus.
